Librae Bakery is a third culture bakery, focusing on middle eastern ingredients, viennoiserie and scratch made sourdough bread and baked goods.

Looking to hire a Pastry Chef to be responsible for supporting the Culinary Director in overseeing day to day operations of our busy bakery. This role will assist in daily pastry production and creating and implementing systems.

This position provides an opportunity to grow with a young company that is committed to providing the best work environment possible for our small and mighty team. We are seeking someone with 5+ years of professional pastry and baking, or culinary experience, with previous leadership experience strongly preferred.

We are looking for someone with an eye for detail, passion for scratch made pastry and bread and with experience in laminating dough. Experience in a fast paced, high volume production setting a plus

• A strong pastry, sourdough bread, and baking knowledge
• Experience in a high-quality bakery, restaurant, café or similar professional setting
• Experience with high volume production with the ability to multi-task
• A solid understanding of operations, strong attention to detail and sense of responsibility, organization, cleanliness and a commitment to excellence
• The ability to lead a team of employees and train the pastry team on all new recipes and standards in a fast-paced working environment
• Ability to interact positively with management, coworkers, and our guests and maintain a encouraging and professional approach to daily tasks.
• Compliance with all NYC food safety standards, a NYC Food Protection Certificate, or ability to obtain one promptly upon hire.
• Working knowledge of ordering, inventory, food cost, waste management, and recipe costing.
• Full availability to work a flexible schedule based on business needs, including early mornings, weekends and holidays
• Ability to stand for extended periods of time and lift up to 50 lbs.
• English fluency required; Spanish is a plus.

Job expectations and requirements include but are not limited to:

• Oversee and manage all areas of our bakery operation and production, ensuring compliance with our standards, policies & health & safety laws in line with our Handbook guidelines
• Practice food safety protocols and have a food handlers license
• Monthly inventory
• Food ordering and organization. maintain cleanliness of dry storage, walk-ins, and common space
• Quality control and assessment of product, ingredients and pastries
• Daily production and assistance in all viennoiserie, pastries, and sourdough breads
• Maintain a positive attitude and ability to work efficiently both as a team leader and independently
• Ability to work weekends and/or holidays

What You Can Expect:

• An annual salary of $75,,000-85,000 DOE*
